Updated: Mar 5, 2023

Information from a study concluded by Red Barn Group Research & Development Teams on shrimp diseases and culture technology.

Nursery Experiment (28 days)

Location: Surat Thani, Thailand.

Aqua® Line Cationic Compensators, Aquaculture Premium Line.

The Results

The Survival Rate when using special feed; Aqua® CaLCIUM, Aqua® MgNESIUM and Aqua® kPOTASSIUM (TREATMENT 2) was 45.6% higher compared to the CONTROL GROUP, where shrimps were fed with commercial pallets.

The total Biomass of the shrimp using special feed; Aqua® CaLCIUM, Aqua® MgNESIUM and Aqua® kPOTASSIUM (TREATMENT 2) was 21.3% higher, the difference is believed to be much higher if ad lib feeding was used.

The Conversion Rate when using special feed; Aqua® CaLCIUM, Aqua® MgNESIUM and Aqua® kPOTASSIUM (TREATMENT 2) was 12% better compared to the CONTROL GROUP.

Minerals, such as vitamins, do not provide energy to the body but have important regulatory functions in addition to their plastic function as they are part of the structure of many tissues.

Nutrient minerals are essential elements for the body as structural components and regulators of body processes which cannot be synthesized and must be part of a daily diet.

The Aqua® line are cationic correctors that, with a focus on production, allow the possibility of catatonically compensate the shrimp and its medium.

Water quality/testing

Daily checks at 7 AM and 4 PM with official test kits:

The water is tested for the following pH, Ammonia, Nitrite, Alkalinity*, Dissolved Oxygen*, Salinity*, Calcium* and Magnesium*

*Not checked daily but with regular intervals

Probiotics

1 liter per tank/day in the morning during the experiment.

Preparation of probiotic

  1. Prepare 30 tons of water

  2. Put bacteria 3 tons (1:10)

  3. Put everyday shrimp feed 100g and molasses 50g

  4. Treat them until water turn brown and smells sweet

PCR test (12/5/2020)

Check for EHP disease; Took 10 pieces of shrimps/tank = All tested “NEGATIVE”

Results (22/5/2020)

  1. TAN; 0-1 ppm for the whole experiment

  2. Nitrite; 0-1 ppm for the whole experiment

  3. Alkalinity; 120-500 ppm for the whole experiment (with adding NaHCO3)

  4. pH; 7.9-8.8 for the whole experiment
